I like the 104" Bronco wheel base...Depends on what you like to run...Jeeps are popular because they are 1 scale bigger than a ATV...They can fit down most trails that are narrow and twisty.....The bronco wheelbase I think is the best...Ive watched and competed in both....Some of the hill climbs have some turns and the long wheelbase usually ends in new dents....I just backed my 75 fullsize 8' Box out of the driveway and was like Holly Scat Batman...Way too long...I think they are 133" Jeeps and Bronco II are like 94-96".......

Well I believe the queston was about mud bogging not trail running. If you are actually talking about bogging then a longer wheel base is somewhat better due to the ability to keep it straight but that also adds more weight look at a lot of the pro stuff and they are moving the front axles forward this also has the same affect as moving the engine back for better weight transfer. But I have also seen guys do pretty well with shorter wheel based rigs, so unless your running in open/outlaw class go with what looks good to you, but I would stay away from skinny rigs like early broncos, and jeeps, rangers, S10s or any other smaller rig. Reason for that is the full sized rigs will leave a set of tracks and with a smaller vehicle your tires won't fit into the tracks so atleast one set of tires will be having to bust new mud and will have the tendancy to throw you side to side.
Now if your talking just general muddin then never mind.

High horsepower and a short wheelbase can make for a unpredictable and sometimes hard to control ride when compared to longer wheelbases. But if your not going to be building a monster motor for it the short wheelbase can be just as good with a mild engine. I personally think the 135-140ish wheelbase found on long bed standard cab trucks is a good combination between a long enoufgh wheelbase and something thats still light enoufgh to be competitive

Up here in NY our Mud Bogging events have drags and hill climbs ond bogs..Not like Iowa..And when not bogging most runs are trails..So to me an all around mud bog vehile should have a shorter wheelbase for all around fun...But a true Bog only vehicle needs one thing....44" + tires and a powerful motor....Ground clearance and power is what wins the events....Good Luck...

Yeah in that case i would stick with a long box standard cab truck, i've seen a few jeeps almost role hadn't they been along the bank to stop there sideways momentum, and i watched a bronco (44" swampers and about 600hp, truck was stripped and thus was pretty light), this was in a 150ft long pit with 30" deep mud, truck got squirrely climbed the bank and rolled over on its side, had it been a longer wheelbase truck this wouldn't of happened.

One mor ething to think of, ever see a short wheelbase rail car at the boggs?

I personally think the reg cab long bed, or super cab short bed range is about right for all around usage. It is a little lanky for turning, but not too bad.

i am just weird but i loved my supercab long bed fullsize. yea the turning was a hassle until i did the twinstick... then all i had to do was engage the p-brake, disengage rear axle, cut the wheel the way i wanna go and nail it! worked everytime!

i loved the really long wheelbased trucks and always will for the mud, i almost bought a 1979 F350 crewcab with an implanted cummins 12V but decided i better get the bronoco going first, lol

I like my Supercab Shortbox. Only problem I have is my light fiberglass flareside bed, Have to have the rear tank full in the snow or I slide everywhere...
