Question Melling's 25% more volume HV Oil Pump?

So AutoJoke doesn't carry the stock volume pump anymore, only a "High Volume".

It is worth investing in? Any reviews? Will it prematurely demolish my distributor gear? And advice greatly appreciated!

Chances are nothing bad will happen, but unless you have really loose bearing clearances, it's nowhere near needed. If the "expert" there cannot find what you need, then ask to speak to the manager. If you were dealing with the manager, then go to another parts house.

On a new rebuild there is no need for a high volume pump and yes it will put additional load on the cam/distributor gears and the oilpump drivehsaft of course.

Oh hell yes a high volume pump is a good idea, these engines with stock pumps usually don't have much oil pressure to begin with, and as the engines wear it gets lower. Also the high volume pump can pump oil better on cold mornings to bearings and valve train etc.
