Ford Truck's sparkplug blowout problem...

Found this article:

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news0...k_engines.html

Thoughts?

I, for one, would love to see Ford do something about this, but I seriously doubt it'll happen.

That is a nasty article. I was not aware of any of the problems they describe.
Is this reality based?

At the bottom of the page, there's this ad:

Ex-IRS Agents solve your tax issues Dont wait. Free Consultation nearby

I'm still checking on whether "consumeraffairs.com" is really a gov't or consumer-based group, but it looks like it's neither

lol well, I can't vouch for the credibility, but the article mirrors what I've read on these forums, so I guess take it with a grain of salt. I will say this about the site, they tend towards the left politically, but most of the news I've read there is verifiable through other sources, so I'd lean towards at least a modicum of credibility. You can take that with a grain of salt also.

LOL sorry, I'll keep 'em simple.

I'm glad the newer trucks don't have the problem, but there's still a ton of us affected by the issue that have been left out in the cold. It'd be HUGE for Ford's image to see 'em step up and do the right thing here.

plugs blowing out are not just with ford. i've been doing inserts for 42 years on alloy headed motors even my old flathead lawn mower. when it happens you just don't go to ford.

So far this month, more than a dozen have reported the F-series blown-spark-plug problem to ConsumerAffairs.Com, adding their names to a list of hundreds who've reported similar incidents with Ford F-series trucks or SUVs.
and how many trucks and suv's were sold in the last 5 years? 100's of 1000's

I almost put some weight behind the article until I saw the thing about the Crown Vic gas tanks. Knowing that the complaints came from police departments where the car was rammed from behind at 60 mph or more, really makes the spark plug article suspect as to facts. Is the problem .01% of the vehicles owned or 5%?

Actually, the Crown Vic problem is more widespread than just the police, (think taxicab companies). Also, the explosions happened at a pretty wide range of speeds, including as low as 35mph. So to consider the article "suspect" due to insufficient facts is probably a touch short-sighted.

That being said, we're talking about the sparkplug issue. An issue that has been well documented on these forums, as well as quite a few other news outlets. Just because it only happens to a certain percentage of owners, doesn't mean it should be ignored. It's a very blatent design flaw that should have been corrected years ago.

Don't get me wrong, I'm about as far from a "Ford-basher" as you can get. All I've ever owned were Fords. But to see such a lack of responsibility from a company you've been loyal to for years is a little disheartening, to say the least. Especially considering they're laying off thousands of people rather than fixing the problems that are driving loyal customers away.
