Since no one else has responded yet, here's some tips on lowering the rear end (see the later part of the article) -

https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/...ial_Swaps.html

As far as lowering the front end, you can do a search on the various alternatives such as dropped axle, reverse eye springs, removing every second leaf or all of them....

ship,
Great looking truck. Looks like a find starting point. What all do you have planned for it?

I think the easiest way to lower a truck is to start removing springs from the stacks. You might also be able to reverse things and put the axle above the springs instead of below them. I'm not sure on what all would be involved...

Welcome to the board, we are glad to have you!

Thanks, I think I will try and remove some springs and see how low it sits. As far as other plans, I;m rebuilding the 292 completely right now, I have some ram horn manifolds and a blue thunder 4 barrel intake to throw on. After that probably power steering conversion and power disc brakes. I want to get all the mechanical work done first of course then take time on the body... Thanks again.

Thumbs up

How many Grill styles did they offer in '59? I have a '59 custom cab and my grill and front end look much different than Shipfitters truck.Mine also has the wrap-around rear window.Did they make 2 or 3 Custom Cab styles?don't get me wrong its still a nice truck, but,I was just wondering about those grills...

Maybe your truck was a late production vehicle and has the 60 style grille. I had a 1960 F-100 Custom Cab years ago that had a chrome grille and the big back window.
It was a short wide bed and was white over baby blue.
Other than that I don't know too much about what options were offered.

I'm not an expert, but after owning a '40 and a '59 and looking at many others of those years and talking to other owners I'm finding out that old Henry did not waste anything. Which means that as far as trucks go, an early model year might have sheet metal put on that was left over from the previous year.
I've seen '59's with round parking lights where most like mine have rectangular ones.
Shipfitters actually looks like a '58 hood, grille and parking lights, but that doesn't mean it's not a '59. But I've also heard of some states had a habit of registering new vehicles as the year they were purchased new in, like a '59 in 1958 or maybe a leftover '58 in '59. You really have to go by the VIN number and assume that was not changed at some point in it's life.

My title lists the truck as a 59, and the vin backs it.. The hood is either a 57 or 58,, I'm currently looking for a 59 hood.. Maybe thats why it looks different from fastford's ... I'm really not sure about the grill, maybe if someone changed the hood, they might have changed out the grill at the same time.. I'll have to research this and find out, I'll let you know..

Shipfitters truck has a 58 grill, valance and turnsignals. Those are the same ones I had until an accident. I was able to find 59 sheet metal and now it has a 59 grill and valance and hood. John
