2 quads in a Super Duty

I know I've seen this before...just wondering how you get 2 quads on end in the truck and not break your back? Is this extremely inconvenient?

Just trying to avoid a rack or trailer purchase.

It is pretty easy if you have ramps. I use these http://www.discountramps.com/SF-9012-7.jpg you can find similar setups at your local tractor supply store. Or you can just by the end pieces for 25.00 and use 2'' x 12'' lumber. You can get the ends from walmart , Lowes , Home depot or Ace if you decide to go that way.

I have done it, but don't try what I'm going to say unless you are strong enoufgh to pick up a quad and maneuver it around.
First get one quad and back it up in to the truck stopping about 4' from hitting the front of the bed, then pick up the front of the quad and carry it around and set the front tires on the bed rail leaving the back tires in the bed. Its important that you leave the brake off when you do this so you can push the quad backwards while your turning it around. Do the same thing with the second quad. You might need to pull it in another truck then back the trucks together to get in it that way.
Its a super big PITA but if you want to get 2 quads in the same truck thats how you can do it. I have done it with Sportsmans, which is just about one of the heaviest quad out there. So just about anything else would be a lot easier.

Some quads you can also stand up on end, but with mine all the gas and oil runs out so I just put them in that way.

Oh yeah....you also need a long box

YES to ramps but LUMBER is VERY DaNgErOuS!!! It can be slippery and your tires can come off which causes the atv to fall and usually flip over backwards onto you. We had a good customer that this happened to and broke his back, he lived but spent the better part of a year in hospital/rehab. Spend some money & get something safe!!! My 2cents...

I made my ramps with those 2x10" ramp kits at the parts store. But, I used some 1"x1/2" strips to give them some tread and them had them sprayed with Line-X. No slipping on those and they hold my 600+ lbs of Grizzly with me on it no problem.

The only way I've been able to get 2 ATV's in the back of my truck is with two small sport bikes. I put my buddies 2 EX 300's in there almost standing up. Made sort of a psuedo headache rack to keep them off the cab and just stood them up and strapped them down. I really don't suggest doing it, as I was a little more than uncomfortable with them like that.

Don't even think about it with a couple of big heavy utility bikes.

Just a FYI if you go this route, or doing it like I said with the quads in the truck sideways; With some quads having them in sideways causes the wind at highway speed to flap the fenders. It can be so bad in some cases that after a few hours at 75 MPH it can fatigue the plastic enoufgh and break the fender clean off. I have an 03 Raptor in the garage with a missing left front fender from that reason.
It may have noty been a problem at 55mph, or if it wasn't for such a long period of time

Thanks Dave I appreciate it. I just dont want to see anyone hurt here. I sold ATV's, snowmobiles, bikes for about 10 years and seen all kinds of crazy crap in that time when people came to pick up their new item. If I seen it once I seen it a million times, spend $7000.00 on a new toy and bring $20.00 of unsafe wood ramps to load and I would just cringe everytime it happened, espically after the one mentioned before broke his back while loading after a ice fishing trip. Nice ramps that actually fold and fit between the tires of an atv cost from $ 90.00 to $200.00 depending on what you get. And in my mind its not worth the risk of hurting yourself over that kind of cash. Most with the wood plank ramps dont go to the extent of "line-X" and a strip of something down the middle as mentioned on here and learn the very hard way and are lucky if they walk away unhurt if a monster like a Polaris sportsman or Honda rincon come crashing down on top of them. Just trying to make people think for the better I hope. Your families and loved ones need you here & not hurt in the hospital ( or worse) from something this preventable..

I have a set of ramps, I used 2x12x8' PT, and the Keeper Aluminum ramp ends, I then purchased a set of traction plates,,,stamped Gal steel screw on plates, from Northern catalog,,you do not slip on them,,at all,,The 2x12's I picked out were nice straight edge grain, no problems with these ramps.

Or you could get a low boy.......http://www.highlifter.com/natcollage05.htm

At last years Mud Nationals, I saw some creative ways to load quads. I saw trailers with 20-30 quads stacked up.

Do not make the common mistake of putting excess weight on the tailgate straps. That has put a dent in numerous tailgates when the straps gave way.

I dont have ramps yet for my truck....so I just tow my Honda Foreman 450 on our utility trailer. Its a tilt bed, so all I do is pull a pin and roll off/drive up.

If you know someone with a small trailer that would let you borrow it, that would be much easier.
