F1 Vent Window Rubber HELP

51 F1 vent windows - I am having a horrible time trying to get my vent windows to seal properly. Reassembling the windows to the frame, the pivot at the bottom am I correct that the cam and spacer both go inside the cage riveted to the bottom of the frame, and the spring and adjusting nut go below the cage, right? Doing it this way is the only way I have enough clearance for the vent window handle to clear over the top of the latch that it clasps around. However, this leaves about a 1/8 inch gap between the chrome window frame and the rubber seal right where the T bolt is that goes through the pivot hole. I'm stumped. How do you get these things to seal right? It almost seems like the frame/rubber bows down right where that pivot is but I can't figure it out. Does the outside frame the rubber fits in need to be "adjusted" by hand and bent any to open it up? I'd really like to be able to go through a car wash and keep myself dry too
