help my buddy, he got waxed by a honda

so a buddy of mine comes to help me with my brake lines and on the way over he gets intoa race with some ricer. He said taht the truck started to stumble under load starting in third. I went out with him and I could definately feel it. We checked for vacuum leaks, but didn't really find anything there. Blocked off the egr, nothing, Pulled the air filter, nothing. Still stumbles and I got no idea what it is, short of bad gas. Let me know if you can think of anything. He;s got the base v8 for the 98 f150, I can't remember what it is. Any help would be appreciated.

Mine was doing that, turned out to be spark plug wires. Had water n crap down in the wholes. Could have probably just blew em out and dried everything up but went a head and put 9mm blue Ford racing wires on it. Runs great now. Of course before this I cleaned the throttle body (didn't need it) and replaced the fuel filter.

btw, I have another set of the wires if he's interested. The only thing is that their for a mustang so a couple are a tad shorter (1 1/2") but still work fine.

ok, so plugs, wires, and intake. anybody know if there's a sensor that won't throw a code that would cause the hickup? It feels like when you lug the engine but it happens at all engine speeds. I'm thinking ignition control module, but it's too expensive for him to replace on a hunch.

Well, if you were closer i'd let him borrow my Cobra to find that Honda and settle that score, the head down to the auto parts store to pick up some basic tune up parts. If there are no codes, I would start with the suggestions above.

Worth checking what he did as well.
