Question Head Light Switch Help Needed Bad!!!!!

hey all, trying to hook up head light switch and very confused can you help??

this is for 85 f series switch, where is parking lamp signal when headlights are on?

terminals are marked as such with what i think they do
A - feed to interior and dash lamps
R - ????
I - dash w/ dimmer
B - 12v+ constant
H - head lamp
D1 - D2 - interior light switch
P - parking lamps

now B only feeds H and only in head light on position, A is with R and I all the time and with P in first(parking lamp only position). i take it you have to give A a fused 12v feed but where do i pick up parking lamps in headlight on position, nothing connects in headlight position and if i jump parking lights to headlight H it'll backfeed headlights when in parking lamp only position, so what am i doing wrong? is this switch bad, its brand new out of the box!!

let me clarify this is going in an older truck, didn't want to try to order in the correct year switch, and looked almost identical, the terminal actions i am assuming are from testing with continuity and attempted hookup in vehicle, hl worked high and low as they should but no parking lamps in hl position, going back to store to check another in case its bad but don't know

headlight switch data

looking at the switch data you listed for the 1985 model pickup, i am trying to discern the same data for my 1979 model F250. information i have for bronco doesnt match and i am re-wiring the headlights for dual relays and halogen lamps on a 40amp circuit with individual fuses (also 40a) and the color-code wiring doesnt match. can you list a key for wiring/circuit codes for my 1979 F-series ?? please advise as soon as it's convenient. thanks-

I don't know why it is - but the color codes on ford harnesses almost seem to change color over time. The insulation fades or gets filthy.

See if you can trace back to a clean spot on the wires if possible.

I'll see if I have a diagram, I'm not sure I have a book earlier than '80.

thanks a lot... i setup the dual relay(40amp) with slow-blow fuses on new halogen blue lamps, and it is awesome. it is up and running. after three months of sorting out schematic diagrams i can offer the fine details to those online who think they show everything you need to know. if i could only figure out how to post the graphics. thanks again.

if i could only figure out how to post the graphics.
Go up to the top of this screen and hold the mouse pointer over "galleries"(it's in the grey bar).

Drop down to "manage create" and click.

Then hit "create an album"

Just keep messing around in there and write back if you get stuck. If you want to make a wiring diagram, I usually just draw it in paint, and then hit save as and select jpg as a file type. I usually save it on the desktop, so when I hit browse in the upload area, I go to the desktop and can find it easier.

If you do manage to get some pictures in your gallery, go down to the testing forum and see if you can get one in your post. I usually go to galleries, manage create, and then click on edit beside the gallery name. The pictures in the gallery will come up as thumbnails, and below them it will say "forum codes" Click on that, and then it will give you a url code that you can put in your post, and then the picture will come up when you view the post.
