Wanted Ford C6 AT Speedo gear assembly

Yet another "missing" item for my 1956 F-100, 390/C6 project. I need the assembly (unsure of terminology) that fits into the drivers side aperature in my C6 transmission. It is installed with a 390 Ford Truck engine (abt 1976) in a 1956 F-100 with stock instruments so I am uncertain if a "made for" speedo cable will fit. Local shops unwilling to cannibalize their cores. Reluctant to go to "junkyard" yet.

The C6 is embossed, drivers side above the pan, RE 700 6D. Can its identity (application) model, origin, and vintage be derived from this info?

Bill

I think what you want is on page 40 of the Mid Fifty F-100 catalog. They have a listing of speedometer cables for both stock and modified installations. There is one cable for the Ford C4, C6, etc to '56 head, if I am reading the catalog right.

I used a stock cable from a 65 F100 in my 56 panel with a C6 and with the current AOD. The 65 cable was free from a truck I had parted previously.

It sounds like you want the speedo driven gear assembly? You should be able to buy one at any automatic trans parts store. If not, you might try Blumenthal Reman Express, 1-800-262-9557 (ask for Larry, he's very helpful)
