1990 F150 - Won't Crank, Starter Is Good.
Hi,
This is my first post so I apologize if I'm doing something wrong.
The other day I went out to start my 1990 F150 and the battery was dead.
I jumped the truck and got it started. Checked the voltage to the battery from the cables and there was none. Figured it was a bad ALT.
Replaced the ALT and the solenoide, fully charged the battery, tried cranking it and the starter doesn't turn over.
The dash lights up and the gauges come on, I can hear the full pump activate, but no ignition at all. No click no nothing.
I'm not getting any voltage from the single red wire that connects at the top of the solenoide.
I think this is what activates the solenoide to send voltage to the starter. ??
What supplies voltage to this wire?????
I know the clutch has to be fully depressed before the truck will crank; could this switch have gone out? Is there a fuse some where between the ignition switch and the solenoide?
I kind of think something blew since it worked when I jumped it but not afterwards.
I also checked the fuseable links on the wires at the solenoide connections and they have continuity. ALL connections are tight.
Thanks for any ideas you guys might have.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Problem Resolved
The linkage that attaches the keyswitch to the ignition switch had broken off at the front of the steering colume where the yoke connects to what I think is the steering lock.
JB weld didn't hold so I drilled it, tapped it, and screwed it.
Seems to be working fine.
If it breaks again i'll just install a push button starter swtich.
Happy New Year All!
