100% Pure Liquid Teflon??

What is liquid teflon? Is it thick like syrup or more like water? I have been to the DuPont web site, but no clear answers. Where can it be purchased?
Thanks Al

You mean like a pipe thread sealant? It's gooey. Can't think of the name brand right now, but it comes in a white bottle about 2 1/2" tall.

The pipe thread sealant contains teflon, so does car wax and multiple other products. I guess what I am looking for is Liquid Teflon in 100% pure form before it is used as an additive in thread sealant, wax, etc, etc. Thanks for the reply bigrigfixer. As much as people advertise "CONTAINS TEFLON" it sure is hard to find what liquid teflon is!

I thought it was a powder? Teflon is more a DuPont trade name and then a product since the patent expired. If you search using its chemical name, your search might be a bit more fruitful.

Teflon pipe dope isn't 100% teflon - I think it has about 10%. Most of it is bentonite, better known as clay.

http://www.zardoznotwax.com/

A ski wax called Zardoz Notwax is made from a teflon manufacturing byproduct. The stuff is made by Dupont, Krytox 901, which is a liquified form of teflon. This is the stuff Clark Griswold would have drooled over at the top of the sled hill. Pricey, but boy does it make skis go fast!

You can't get 100% pure liquid teflon.
Polytetrafluoroethylene is a solid at normal temperatures.

But if that's what you want, it had better be at 621*F.

In simpler terms, Teflon is a plastic, not much different than any other plastic, although it does feel pretty slippery. You can machine it and mold it like any other plastic. As noted above, it actually has a significantly higher melting point than ordinary plastics.

The brand that we sell at work (a water utility supply company) is Oatey, and it comes in pint and quart size cans. They usually sell it at Lowes and Home Depot.

PTFE is not a liquid unless heated to 621 degrees. under that it remains a solid and should never be used in engine oil.

I imagine if it comes in pellet form for plastic extrusion, it might also come in powder to be mixed with some kind of liquid. I wonder if that's what the new stuff is they paint on extendable jibs on the knucklebooms and boom trucks. It's slick where it's metal to metal and you don't have to grease those shafts any more.
