Question ** NOISE ** Can anyone tell me what is causing it??

I have a 2004 F150 SuperCrew and there is this really loud and annoying "rattling/squeeking" noise that can be heard inside the cab when you hit any type of bump. I've taken it into the dealer several times and they have done minor adjustments but the noise is STILL THERE!!! This is really driving me crazy... Can anyone out there help me???? What is causing this noise???

Thanks in advance!

where is it coming from? i.e underneith you, from the back, front,or from inside the cab. did the dealer tell you what they adjusted? did any of their adjusting solve anything and it just happened to come back?

I don't think it's the ashtray. It seems to be coming from the bed of the truck. (Or somewhere towards the back.) If you look in the mirror while driving, you can see the bed shaking and the noise goes along with the shaking. The last time I took it to the dealer, they tightened some of the bolts that were on the bed. (Said that "a few that were loose.") Does that give you guys any ideas???? The truck only has 24K miles on it. I've had new tires put on recently, the alignment checked, and a dampier put on it. After all of that, the noise is still there...

that sounds like my 98 lariat. it was the leafsprings. i broke a leaf on both set. check and see if your bolts have came lose again. if the bed moves any it'll rattle or at least it can.

The bed does still "shake" when you drive but I was told that is due to the new style of truck. Something about the seperate suspension or something. (I'm not a truck guru, in case you couldn't tell! HA)

I read a few posts about a recall on the butyl noise insulator "pads" that are between the frame and the bed itself. This could be what you're describing. I'll see what I can find.

- All I can find on this is a part number that was used. Try having your dealer look up part number "PM12F." I found this on an Oasis report that was run on a truck that had the bed pad recall. Hopefully this will help.

Sound obvious, but did you or the dealer check to make sure the spare tire was tight?

Sounds like the rear window, do you have the slider? I had mine replaced, the rubber seal was squeaking.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll check them all out to see if I can figure this thing out. (The odd thing is, that the noise isn't consistent. Some days it's fine. Some days it makes me want to sell the truck. All while driving the same roads!)

If anyone else thinks of something feel free to share!! Thanks again...

My rear window squeaked with the bed bouncing, that's how I figured it out. I have had to shoot a little silacone spray on it once since they replaced the seal. That works for about a year...

We had a 2002 with a strange noise, and we thought it was the bedliner thumping. Turns out, there was a tree branch stuck between the cab and bed; it blew down in there after a windstorm. Might be worth your time to look for foreign objects trapped in places they don't belong.

Check the jack under the back seat. Mine drove me crazy for a few days till I figured out it was that.

Of course, finding the source of noises via the internet is a tough "job".

I've got the exact same noise. I only notice it when the rear slider is open and when the bed shakes after hitting a bump. I've been all over the truck - no broken leaf springs, spare is tight, no stray debris lodged anywhere, no bed liner and removed the jack the day I bought the truck. I took it to the dealership and they tried tightening the bolts - helped for about 3 1/2 minutes (give or take a few seconds). They want me to bring it back and have the insulator pads replaced (under warranty)... service manager advised this is a common issue, but he didn't know of any recall for it.
