Stock Radio problems

Hello everyone,

I have a 99 F150 4x4 and just recently the radio has decided that it doesnt want to show the clock or the radio station while it is turned on. The entire screen stays black but all the buttons or numbers light up if the head lights are on. If I give the radio a couple good whacks it slowly comes on and then stays on till you shut the radio off or the truck off.

Has anyone had this problem before or know a solution to it?

If not does anyone know a good radio to replace the stock 6 disc CD changer that doesnt cause a lot of hassle?

Thanks for any help.

There are so many decent aftermarket decks out there right now, I would goto your local audio place and pick what you want, depending on what features you want and price and whatnot. As the saying goes, stock sucks!

If I remember correctly, my dad had the same problem in his supercrew. I think he took it to the dealership and they either fixed it or replaced it. I can't remember what happened exactly. If you're still under warrenty, go get them to check it out. Otherwise, invest in a new, better cd player.

If you want a good stock radio, check ebay. I wanted to replace my stock tape player with a STOCK single disc cd player with RDS. I went to the Ford dealership and asked for one and he told me that it would cost close to $500. Went on ebay and got it for $81. You have a 99 so most of the radios on ebay will fit- check your plugs.

If you decide to get rid of the stock tuner/controller, I may be interested in your stock 6 disc changer. Unless of course you attach the new unit to that.

Thanks for all the input. I think I'll keep an eye on ebay and see if i cant find a suitable replacement for it. If not I guess I'll just have to look for a new radio setup. Thanks again for all the help.
