Question EGR Valve Again?

I had a rattling noise in my 05 4.6L Screw a week ago, they replaced the EGR Valve (Supposively) at the dealer, this noise went away, and it has returned, only in a different fashion...

1st time...rattling noise in any gear from 1200-1500 rpms, when you accelerate past that, it would quit, let off the gas an it would quit

now...same noise when I let off the or reapply the gas occasionally, not nearly as annoying as before, but with only 1200 miles, it shouldn't be happening

Guys and Gals, have any of you experienced anything like this or similar, and what do you think it could be...

Thank You

Thanks for the Response Jimmy...

I took it in today, the noise that the mechanic heard was valve clatter, rep said that in the wintertime when fuel is more oxigenated it will so this, told me to try 89 octane, wasn't gonna hang around to talk to him, I had to go to class...

Cool

well...the same noise i was hearing before they replaced the egr valve is back...taking it in tomorrow...again...my supercrew has 1340 miles on it!

don't have an appointment so might be there a while, but I will not leave in it until they fix it...this is rediculous, i'd almost call it a lemon, but this "rattle/flutter" is the only thing wrong with the truck...

AC/Heat Works, Radio Works, Windows Work, I can drop the hammer and be doing 80 before the on-ramp ends

this rattle occurs at a sustained RPM, around 1100-1300, and now often occurs when I apply the gas (service rep said tech heard valve rattle under load, but that was due to running in the wintertime with more oxygenated gas...

if anyone can, before 7 AM Central Time, please give me some advice about how to handle this situation, I have had the truck in 3 times for this (once to determinebad egr valve supposively, once to replace it, and the last time told me to run 89 octane, that the vibration i am hearing is valve clatter and I don't think it is, it sounds like a brick sliding across concrete, this of course is only around 1100-1300 sustained rpms and sometimes when I apply the gas)

ok guys...here's what I did...

I took my screw over to my ford dealer this morning in College Station, met up with my service man, which said last time I was there, which was wednesday of this week, that if I still heard the noise that he would go for a ride with me. He and the Shop Foreman went on a five mile journey, both hearing the noise, and we scheduled the drop-off for monday...

here's the other part...

my ford dealer does not give loaner cars, but will provide rental cars IF you bought the extended warranty. I wasn't expecting to have to do anything like this so...no extended warranty for me. Well, since I was due to drop off the truck monday, I was gonna go ahead and go about my business for the day, but as I was preparing to leave the lot I called my mother, whose name is actually on the title, to tell her about this...well needless to say she wasn't too terribly happy with this, she told me she wanted to talk to the guy and I said that I would take care of it...I parked my truck and went back inside to talk to my service man, I tried to be firm, but not rude, and he told me that the service department would pay for a rental for a day...which is better than I expected, so if you are out there service man, THANK YOU!

Side Note: My Screw now has 1370 miles on it!

The 89 octane is a lie. These trucks are tuned to run on 87 octane. They either need to reflash the PCM for a timing adjustment or there are other problems. My 01 runs fine on 87 octane even with a Predator tune with the advance backed off 10% from the 93 octane tune.
Make sure that they fix it correctly, not just give you a tank of 89 octane and say it's fine!!

I would contact Ford customer service if they do not resolve the issue.

Perhaps the metal line was making contact with another item. If so, it might have vibrated at only certain resonant frequecies generated at specific RPMs or ground speed. It may have been bent to give it a needed clearance.

Hope it's fixed.
