oiled filters bad for turbo's?

So I have a friend that is telling me that K&N Filters are bad for turbo's because the oil that is put on the filter will stick to the impeller. This sounded like a whole lot of hog wash to me, but since they are kind of spendy to replace, I thought I would get some other peoples info on them. Thanks alot guys, and happy holidays!

hmmm
since our ccv dumps oil right before the turbo i dont see what the difference is. k&n is junk. at least that is the word around here. do a search for the 6637 kwik filter.

yeah the oil isnt gonna hurt it our motor oil ends up through the turbo anyway. k&n filtration isnt what i think it needs to be.

K&N filter is why I have a new turbo; 100k miles w/ 30k cleanings, and the impeller edges looked like someone took a file to them. I now have a Tymar intake setup to go with the new turbo.

The problem is the amount of dirt the K&N passes. This is why K&N sells a "pre charger" that goes on their regular filter in dirty environments.

K&N's are nothing more than a crankcase breather. they allow huge (relatively speaking) particles through. when they contact a sharp edge spinning 100,000rpm's plus, it is going to mar the blades. the best out there for the price is the 46637, which is directly related to the more expensive tymar system (same filter), and then the Ford AIS, which is superior in filtration to all others, but is expensive, and wont flow as much as 46637/tymar.

Forget about turbo damage, consider what the larger particles are doing to your engine. Turbos are cheap compared to engines.

I put a Tymar on mine a couple years ago and never looked back.
