Well this has been entertaining and educational. So maybe I should stick with the Motor Craft and use the extra cash to take my wifeout for a nice evening. Who knows I might get lucky.

the only way to know for sure is to do a uoa. i beat it will show you can run the mc 5w20 for at least 5k with very low numbers. blackstone does them for 20.00

 

Ok so the Royal Purple is probably comparable to Mobil 1, which usually can be had for less $$$, and IIRC has some ester in the mix. I still hold the Redline in a higher category and for 5w20 it is my choice because of the HTHS. Right, Redline is not all ester, maybe 50% of the basestock. If it were all ester, it probably would not be good.
