Where to mount a big, honking power inverter?

I'd like to run a power inverter so when i'm at the race track I don't need to bring a generator to power tire warmers. At any-rate, I popped the hood and was wondering where a guy could mount a 3 or 4000 watt power inverter.

Any ideas?

Eric, a 3000-4000 power inverter is going to reqire a bank of batteries. Continuous draw is going to be 287.5 amps. While all of this is possible, the generator is a better idea. Just get a quiet and small as you need to make it easy to carry.

I think you're right. There doesn't seem to be a provision to mount a second battery for the inverter to suck the life out of.

not to mention the surge could destroy the onboard electronics.

In addition to the battery problem with that large of an inverter, under the
hood is the worst place you can install it due to heat!! If you need that much power, go with a gas generator, as previously suggested.....

For computers, they make DC to DC converters that run off of 12V.

With all that plus the time and expense of installation I'd just buy a generator.
Can you mount the generator on your car trailer? That way you wont have to mess with it other than starting and shutting down.
When I used to run karts a friend put a small car muffler on his generator and it helped alot with noise.
If it's not mounted anywhere get enough good size cord to set it infront of the truck while using it. Your neighbor at the track might not like it but you'll most likely have to listen to his the same way.
