97 7.3 psd loss of power, white smoke

I have a 7.3 diesel dump 5 spd that has a problem with losing power. As this power loss takes place, the more I press the pedal down, the more white smoke pours out with no change in the rpms. It is steadily getting worse, and will now do it in low gear as well as OD. I have replaced all the filter. The truck has 120,000 miles.

definetly a fuel problem. ya changed the filter so thats good. could be a bad lift pump, Injector pressure controler sticking open, dieing HPOP, foaming oil, low on oil.

most likely a bad lift pump.

Maybe add injector o-rings to that list.

I drove the truck alot today. In the morning, when the truck was cool it was worse. An employee of mine was following and said that the smoke smelled of fuel and also had somewhat of a blue color to it, and I mean it really smoked, and would not get any power. The more gas I gave it, the more it smoked. I also noticed that the rpms occasionally are droping down like the truck is going to stall. It has stalled while sitting still, but has not stalled while in motion. How big a procedure is replacing the injector pumpm and o-rings? Thanks

we dont have these.

it's probably your injector orings. $10 a pack and you need 8 packs.

WOW! Three hours? Does the turbo have to come off too? Curious here, never have had to do one myself.

nah the turbo dosnt have to come off. the fuel bowl does though. and that banjo bolt is a pita. just gotta make sure and pull that pump exactly strait up out of the hole so you dont knock the tappet back into the motor. its easier to get the banjo bolt back on with the turbo off but thats another pita there.

Possible Problem Solved

I repalced the cam sensor and I barely can tell that I have a problem. There is still an occasion where I get a little smoke but very little if anything compared to what it was like before. They told me at ford that that sensor was a popular one to have to replace. Any feedback?

Yea CPS is a common problem, never heard of it causing your symptoms though.
