Drivers side, door WINDOW.....FELL
It fell but I pulled it back up. When I did this "METAL" fell to the bottom of the door....inside the door.
The window motor still works.....so it sounds. I assuming that when I pull the interior door molding off I will find that something has broken.
Any ideas what components I will most likely have to purchase?
Also, when I remove the interior door molding will I damage the plastic push pins.....causing me to have to buy new ones....or?
Thanks,

The most likely problem is that the window fell out of the channel that it is suppoed to sit in. The channel is glued to the bottom of the window. The window regulator pushes up and pulls down on the channel to move the window. I've seen guys use silicone to hold the window into the channel but I think the right thing is butyl.
The key to removing the door trim panel is that after you remove the screws etc it lifts up. It doesn't pull straight off. There are no push pins on these.

Took it apart and found that the glass is still inside of the track and the entire mechanical arm assembly moves with it but, the REGULATOR has fallen OFF completely....(quarter moon looking thing with gear teeth on one side.....8" long, 1/8" thick.
It looks like the regulator is supposed to be firmly attached to something but I really can't see anymore until I remove move components. There appears to be four sheared rivets on the regulator.....does that make since??
Anyway, if the regulator is completely off does that mean it is broken......what new parts should I need to buy??
Thanks,

I've never seen the rivets break and regulator fall off the door but I guess anything is possible.
If the regulator still looks ok you may be able to just replace the rivets. You'll need a rivet gun that will handle the 1/4" rivets though. Most smaller ones wont.
You may be able to use bolts and nuts instead of the rivets but check to make sure that they will clear everything.

Actually, the regulator plate sheared off at the "spot welds" not rivets. I think the reason it broke is that there was not enough grease in the tracks.....causing too much drag.
The regulator plate is welded to the assembly and the reg plate rides the gear on the motor....motor turns and the reg plate rotates the rest of the mechanism which pushes the window up/down.
I was able to fix this mess without disassembly.
First I drilled through the regulator plate at the welds (four holes) then used the reg to spot drill into the "other" plate (where it's supposed to be welded).
Then I added 4 "low head" socket head cap screws" low head because anything else would not fit,8-32. That's why they welded it I guess.
There is a 3" dia hole in the door to do this.
Everything works fine now.
Probably saved myself $200/300.
Otherwise, I would have to drill out all those large rivets that hold everything and my rivet gun would not replace these.
Never a dull day in the life of my f150.
I guess at 230k miles I can't complain.
Also, added lots of grease. I have pic's and will try to add them later for anyone that wants them.
