2x.... my '70 project is, on the side, an MPG project to see if I can squeeze 20 to 22 mpg out of an inherently inefficient FE.... It's fuel injected (Edelbrock E-Street) and overdriven (TKO-500 5 speed) with a final drive ratio of, gulp, 2.38:1. It'll be turning about 2,000 RPM at 70 mph with 28-inch tall tires. It has yet to run but it's getting closer. It's lowered 3/5 already.

Then I plan mods to slick up the aero - air dam, sealed gaps, an aero grill, undertray, side skirts, rocker deflectors (like big rigs), small mirrors, gutter delete, pressure venting, etc.

Then the ol' girl will go on a weight loss program.

just go stick a ecoboost from a new F150 that's been wrecked into an old pre 1980 F100 2wd shorty and 30mpg would be easy. might even be able to pull a trailer when not going for the mileage.

I had a solid 240 in a 66 stepside I was working on for the Mrs. and was going to swap in a T5 inplace of the 3spd. with some freshening and a decent intake/exhaust it should have come close? it burnt in the fire so I will never know.

What you describe here will already be pretty pricey! But I like it.
