1998 F150 4x4 motor problems! HELP?

Hello all,
This is my first time posting and I own a 1998 Ford F150 4x4, 5.4l ext. cab stepside... My truck for the last couple months has had a bad miss in it when driving it and I cannot figure it out. This truck just started doing this after I let it sit for 2 wks while I was out of town.
It runs smooth and fine and does not buck when driving above 2rpm's or so but when it is below 2rpm's then it jumps & bucks a little like it has a miss and feels like it tries to run on 7 cyl. instead of 8... It also does not have as good throttle response when sitting at idle then it use to. And it seems to run a little smoother at night time when it is cooler outside which is wierd.

In the last couple months I have tried to fix it by installing a new set of plugs (which was a big headache), along with testing all of the individual coil packs. I took it to auto zone and they did a diagnostic check for me and it came back as a catalac convertor problem which they think it needs a new set of oxygen sensors.

If anyone out there has had this problem before or knows how to fix this, then please help me out.. Thanks in advance!

When you went to autozone did they give you the codes from the scanner?
When Idling does it want to stall?
is there a chk engine light on?

Rich I think the code was "bank 1"... No it seems to idle just fine. And no its definitely not the spark plug boots. =( Any other ideas? Im thinking that its definitely some kind of sensor, like maybe the maf or something? But I have know idea at this point.

We,I,you need the exact code and we can point you in the right direction .
egr valve
cracked vacum lines
dpfe sensor
Maf sensor
02 sensors
Without the code its sometimes a needle in the the stack situation.

If you have an Advance Auto around they will read your codes and give you a paper with the problem system on it.
