Shopping for an affordable DPFE sensor

I'm looking for an affordable DPFE sensor for my 99 FORD F150, 4.6L. The local Ford dealer wants $87 plus tax. Anybody know of a better deal ?

Thanks

they only offered me the new black plastic one, you can keep a eye on ebay they often have new ones that normally go for about 50.00 plus shipping and they always sell used ones, I would be weary of them). mine cost 100.00 plus tax. napa sells one for about 75.00 but it has to be special ordered.

Check out a junkyard, sometimes you get lucky and pay a fraction of the cost.

Yeah for mine there was an option of two different sensors that could fit in, and like I said, with my luck, it turned out being the expensive one!

Thumbs up Dpfe

Is the 4.6 DPFE sensor different from the one in the 5.4 ?
Because I just priced one for the 5.4 and it was 51.00 from Auto Zone .
I asume it is different.

Smile Thanks!!

Thanks peppermrj, that site is the best so far. I read through the thread you sent and I pretty much have gone through the EGR system. My passages from the exhaust manifold through the snorkel are clean and the EGR valve opens & closes fine. My persistent P0401 fault, by process of elimination, points to bad DPFE.

Part number EGR155 from OReilly made by Borg Warner. They make the ones for Ford. If you buy one of those it costs $46 and is the EXACT same one as the dealership sells - black plastic new style even has the Ford part numbers on it.

I bought mine at the junkyard for $5.00. The counter guys don't know what you are asking fore, so when you bring it to them they sort of sctatch their head and blurt out either 5 or 10.00. The standard misc. small wachamacallit price.

It was so cheap because you have the small style. if yours is the big one get the EGR 155 from Oreilly. Its about 3.5" by 2". The small one is quite a bit smaller and much cheaper from the dealer.
