A potentiometer is just a fancy name for a variable resistor.
Bobby, do put in a drain plug in the pan, if you need to drain the pan again you'll be thanking the day, and even if you never do it's a minor expense and effort. I think the left it off so you'll be more inclined to take it to a dealer than do it yourself when it's time to change the oil and filter.

Yea, I think you're right. Hopefully I'll get a chance to work on it this coming week. If nothing else I'll get the parts bought

My brother uses a TH400 in his race car, he said putting in a drain plug is the best thing he's ever done. Of course he's pulling the tranny every couple weeks.

Bobby, you ''might'' save yourself a little trouble if you drill a small hole in the pan to let it drain, then you can put a drain plug where you drilled the hole. Worked for me. LOL

That's a great idea! Ought to save alot of cleanup...lol..I know I'd spill the old tranny juice all over the garage floor. Hopefully I can gather the parts this week. I think I might have some free (I use the term loosely) time next weekend.

By the way, I used an angle adapter just to be sure the drill wasn't directly under the hole!
