04-05 4.0 V6 turbo??

Anyone have or have seen one in a Ranger? Maybe any earlier models like an 01-03? I am looking for serious power, but easy and cheap (without nitrous).

Now that the 4.0l is in the Mustang, I wouldn't be surprised to see some kits available for it...
Am not aware of any current bolt on kits for it though

Yes it does. The same 4.0l V6 is the base engine option in the Mustang.

well thats cool, it is the same horsepower too? So basically when someone else other than explorer express makes a supercharger for the mustangs 4.0, it will work on our 4.0 v6s?

It should be the same engine, although it probably does have little differences.
If a supercharger is made for the 4.0l V6 in the Mustang it should bolt on to the Ranger with few issues.

I personaly would puta remote turbo set up on it... i have seen it done several times.... the hole kit is about $3500.00 the turbo in hidden in the frame rales and u dont even have the have nos... The cool part is that the kit comes with a boost controler and u dont even know that u have a turbo untill u mash on the gas and ur head nearly comes off from how much torque and horse power u gain the stock Hp on the 4.0 is about 160ish with the kit try a cool number of about 250 - 300 dyno power.. cool huh go to this web site called www.trixtersracing.com he is local here in texas thats the cool part let me know if u have anymore questions....

Power is not cheap. Turbo kits for NA engines only produce 5-7 psi SAFELY. Turbocharging an engine requires changing the compression, fuel system, Internal parts, and modifying your tax bracket.

So let's say you go spend 2K-4K on a Turbo or Blower. No mods done to the engine internally. 5-7 psi, 35-50 more hp, 50-65 ft/lb torque - maybe. You get the bug, turn the boost up and head gasket suppiers become your new best friend. Then, when you burn a hole in the rear piston banks, your in the market for a new vehicle.

Try not to exceed the capability of the engine/vehicle combo that you currently own. On your next purchase think of what you might want to do to the vehicle and buy accordingly. Once you develope the power you are looking for, transmissions become an issue. Man there's soo much to think about. Planning it out though, is best for the long haul.

Well that may be all well and good but my friend Will put an ATI procharger on his 2000 Harley Truck and on his stock 5.4L is cranking out 380hp and over 450fttq. without nos, or anything just 9lbs of boost

A Procharger is capable of 15-20 psi. But the stock 5.4 can only utilize 9psi. Is he putting that extra 90 hp to the ground? If he lowered the compression, added dish type pistons, bumped up the fuel system and got the appropriate chip to go with that combo...that truck would put out closer 500 hp at 15 psi.

The cost of a procharger is not worth 85-90 hp.

That is all well and good, but this is just a plain old stock 5.4L with over 100000 miles on it and it runs like a raped ape. We just reacently granaded the tranny. were putting a built monster box in it, after we put the tranny in were gona have our tunner build an all built bullit 5.4L forged pistons, and rods, stage 3 cams, Lincon Navi. PI heads and Nos. with a turbine turbo on it and run about 15- 50lbs of boost. ANd put well over 1250hp and well over 1800Flbs of tq.

Yeah, well, some people smoke out their *** too. Of course he didn't indicate his compression ratio which to me is a huge factor. If his 5.4 runs a 6:1 c/r, then 25psi will fit and the head gaskets would likely stay on.

Or, he might be like me, and not run head gaskets per se... and add extra head bolts ;-)

Are you aiding my point, or doing a little bashing on my account?

I am merely supplying info. I do not doubt that anyone can produce that kind of HP/TQ with a 5.4. I do think it would take a team of accountants to make it happen though. (for the average gearhead)
