Yep Snipa...I did this one myself. I've done top end repairs before but never down to a bare block until this one. There are some pics of the scattered engine dismantled on the garage floor in my gallery. The block, heads, intake, pan, etc.. were all painted separatly and then assembled, not just covered in paint after bolted together. I put on a 55 merc dizzy with a 55 oil pump and hex drive, Sanderson headers , Elgin timing chain & gears. The bracket sitting on top of the generator is where I piggy-backed the Toyota power steering pump...it runs off a double pulley on generator.
One day I'de like to do a multi carb setup but wanted to restart motor with a known good carb and get everything dialed in before I change it all up. And Randy Jack, I hope it runs good too. But if it doesnt then I know I messed up...not someone else I paid big bucks. But if all works good I can take alot of pride in it.
It will never be one of those $125,000 hot rods due to lack of money and knowledge but I can say I did it myself.
It's not about how fast you get there (for me), its how the truck "talks" to you as it goes down the road. These old y-blocks sound so good thru duals when they hit that harmonic range going down the hwy.
When the trans is ready (3 spd. form a 64 F100) I'll be ready to move on to the cab (custom Interior-have 97 Gran Prix buckets) and body work...
Yee-Haa !

Very nice work!!! Fantastic looking engine.

What a great reward for all your hard work, the only thing better is when you'll finally fire it off and hear its rumble in your ears.
