Rut-Ro, Ford's Big Hoss F-350 Concept truck!
I've tried to find this on the net, but I read the article in Petersons 4 wheel and off road.
http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/toc/thismonth/
Sorry, you'll have to get the mag.
6.8L Triton v-10
362hp/457 lb-ft
zf s6-650 six speed manual
NV271
D60 Front, High Pinion, 4.30 gears, 35 spline shafts, and Electrac limited slip/locker
10.5 Ford, 4.30 gears, 35 spline shafts, and Electrac limited slip/locker
35/12.50R17 Pro comp Xterrains on 17x8 Alcoas
Stock F350 Radius arm front suspension with snow plow springs, stock F350 rears, and Ranchos.
Not to mention the heavy duty 12000 lb Warn complete with front and rear trail bumpers and box saver.
Looks like Ford want's a piece of the Powerwagon's thunder, and could very well steal it all.

That's what I thought.
I merely copied the specs right out of the magazine article.
This F350 is one bad mother! It's too bad that I can't find any other info on it other than in the October '05 4 Wheel and Offroad magazine. The pictures are absolutely incredible!
I sure would like to see the 6.0L PSD in this mother, but since it's still 500 lbs heaiver than the V-10, I can see the reasoning for going with the 10.
At least Ford has the availablity of a better gasser vs Dodge 3/4 ton up line ups.
I've stated before that Dodge really needs a better gasser in the PW (the 5.7L does okay with the 4.56 gears, but I'd bet its a real fuel pig compared to a Triton V-10/ 4.30 gear combo.).
I'm really surprised that the article doesn't mention anything about the use of the Torqueshift tranny in the FX4 Hoss Edition F350.
Here's the specs for a '05 Powerwagon
5.7l Hemi v-8
345hp/375 lb-ft
5-45rfe 5 speed auto or a G56 six speed manual
Nv271 (slip yoke...I forgot to mention the F350 is a fixed)
AAM 925 (9.25) High Pinion, 4.56's, 33 spline and Trac-rite selectable locker for the front axel
AAM 1050 (10.5), 4.56's, 30 spline shafts, and Trac Rite limited slip/locker for the rear.
285/70R17 BFG AT's on 17x8 Alcoas
Electric sway bar in front with softer rate springs in the rear, and Bilistien shocks.

No different than the PW.
I remember getting flamed up the wazoo about stating the same thing about the PW.
I sure thought that there would be alot of support for this truck, especially you read the SD forums on how many wished Ford made trucks with decent LS units (I think that they are fine for the average joe-sixpack).
BTW, those bumpers on the HOSS are fabbed in house by Ford.
I sure hope that they run with this truck.
To think that a FX4 truck can finally have the goodies to go off road for real.

According to the article, it may or may not be up for retail sale, sounds like the bean counters are still deciding that one.
If it gets the green light, it will be sold as the F350 FX4 Hoss Edition.
I'd sure like one, but I think I'd have a hard time filling it up with it's 4.30 gears compared to my 7.3L (and it's bad enough as it is!).

Here's the response from Truetrac:
"Mr. Kepler-
We appreciate your interest in our products.
The Big Hoss is a prototype vehicle. While we hope it goes into
production(with our product), it is still too early to know if it will
happen.
There is no current time frame to offer the 10.25"/10.50" Electrac to the
general public. It may even be a product Ford has exclusive rights to sell.
That could mean it may never be available from us but it's far too early to
speculate on the outcome.
We have just released the 10.25"/10.50" Detroit Truetrac. It is a vast
improvement over the factory optioned Trac-Lock. The 9.75" Truetrac is also
now available.
I'm sorry I couldn't provide more concise information. Hopefully the
decision from Ford will be made in the near future.

The article in 4-Wheel & Off Road has an email address where consumers can send a message to express their interest in the Hoss being built. I'll post that when I have a chance.

Unfortunately you can't post email addys as the data miners that constantly bomb bard this site would literally flood that persons email with all kinds of garbage.
Any one that would like the email to send a message, just shoot me a message.
BTW, the email addy is for the author of the article, David Kennedy. I'm sure that you could also go to www.4wheeloffroad.com and send a message that way too.

In my enthusiasm, I forgot about that.
Thanks for the link to 4W&OR! Looks like they still want you to buy the mag as they only list the Table of Contents for that issue.
The email addy format is: david.kennedy @ primedia.com
Type it in and send David a message about your thoughts on the Ford Hoss.

I've seen several of the V-10 Dodge trucks, the Super-Bee trucks are fairly common. I have not yet seen a Power Wagon, even on a Dodge lot.
I think they are limited production trucks. IMHO, they would sell more with the Cummins engine instead of the gas guzzling Hemi. But I could be wrong.
No matter, I would really like to see Ford build this truck.
