Deutz diesel into 77 highboy, need help finding parts

Well after finishing my 429 buildup and being totally sick of ignition and carburation, I decided to do something crazy and squeeze a v8 deutz diesel and medium duty truck trans into my highboy.

Problem is finding parts to get the ball rolling.

My father was a factory tech for deutz back in the early eighties, and from research I know I need a inline style injection pump v8 air cooled deutz diesel. the engine code used is either bf8l 413, bf8l 513, f8l 413, f8l 513, etc... depending wether it is turboed or two stage burn or turboed and aftercooled...

Basically the big thing is v8 deutz air cooled diesel. Found a set of v10's at $1k a piece, but I think that will be too big for the engine bay. They come with sae bellhousings factory, so a med. duty tranny is the most logical choice. Does anyone have a line on a good overdrive manual tranny that will work? I have found very little around here in that size. I don't want to deal with the weight of a semi tranny, and length may be an issue since I dont want to move the divorced transfer case. One driveshaft would be much better to have made than three.

I'm selling the 429/C6 combo to help fund this project, and I think it would be wild to see this thing rumble down the road. My dad did a swap for a 4 cyl deutz with a t18 or t19, said he got 45 mpg out of it but it was a little doggy, I figured if I can get half that for mileage I will be happy (not to mention the insane power nimbers these engines will turn!).

Any suggestions or ideas on where to get parts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

We used to work with the Inline six Deutz in O&K haul trucks. In Spokane, Pacific Detroit Diesel was also Deutz. They are now called Pacific Power Products. Here is a link to their locations site. http://www.pacificdda.com/locations.asp
