98 F 150???

I Have a 98 F150 Extra cab, 2wd, 5.4L, 4:56 Gears. The check Engine light keeps coming on. I had the code pulled and it read P0102. MAF sensor. So I changed it. 3 times and it still comes on. The tranny shifts extremely hard. It has a shift kit in it but it has never shifted this hard. It will bark in all gears when shifting. I can seem to trace the problem yet. Could it be possible that there is a vacuum leak of any kind? The computer has been reset everytime the MAF was changed. Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Weird things happen with OBD-II vehicles when their batteries are going South. Did any of this happen before the gearing change?

Nope, but being in Las Vegas I have heard that sugg before about the battery.
