Best tires for family Expedition

Need to replace my Goodyear Wrangler RT/S P255/70R16's on my 2002 Expy. I've got over 50K on the set. The other day my wife hydroplaned going slow down a 15 degree paved slope. Even though I could probably go a little longer, just looking at the tread, they're coming off.

It's possible that we may encounter some snow/ice as we travel from south Georgia to the north Georgia mountains this fall. My daughter will be attending college there and will not have a car so we will be carrying her back and forth from south Georgia on holidays and breaks between semesters.

So the requirements:
Frequent rain
Occasional snow/ice (possibly none weather permitting)
Lots of highway miles

Thanks!
Frank

I put Michelin LTX M/S on my 03 Expedition. The best tire for rain and highway in my opinion. They are very quite and smooth. I have not had the chance to have them in the N. GA snow yet (I live in Atlanta).

I did have the LTX M/S on my 01 F-150 when I had it and the tires were more than acceptable in the snow (truck was a 4wd also) and got about 75k miles out of them.

Good luck

Frank Norman where you from? i have the same tire as red03xlt
has and i've got over 60,000mi on them and maybe 10-15000
more to go. But one thing you should now they ar'nt as all season
as you think. There classified as that becuase of the grove ?? it
goes all the way to the tire shoulder. Found that out when i went
to get snow tires.

I've had my LTX M/S's for a year now on my '03, not a problem, and a nice ride. If I could only keep the wife from hitting curbs:-).

Ive got Bridgestone Dueler APT's on mine. Seemed to do great last winter, A4WD only kicked on a couple times all winter on a paved road. Fairly agressive tread pattern and not too much road noise.

Yah those michelin don't get that good of traction on ice which i
believe you guys get sometimes and snow the only thing that helps there is the weight other than that there great tires very
good wear, like i mentioned over 60 000 mi still plenty of life.

Here's a vote for something other than Revos

Nokian Vatiiva!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look like the other tire, wear well and cost 1/3 less than the "super suv tire"!!!! Got mine last January and LOVE THEM! Revos were $600 for 4 and Nokians were $430 on the truck.
