Anybody have info re: Ford Paint Recall
I have a 1987 F-150 and the paint looks rough to say the least...i did some google searches and found a few references to a Ford Paint Recall program...long story short, if your vehicle was painted during certain years, your paint job is exhibiting certain defects, you can take your truck to your ford dealer and they will evaluate and approve the repair. I called Ford and the woman said she wasnt aware of any broadscale paint recalls for my vehicle but if i could locate the Ford Recall program # she could see if it applied to my truck. The format would be ## L ##.
Any information is appreciated. Thanks...Neil

Not so, 92Cajun. Last fall ('04), I had recall work done on my '93 F250 for the dreaded fuel cross-flow problem. That recall had been extended to 12 years from date of delivery or 150,000 miles. I squeaked in. But, in this case, you're probably right. I can't imagine anyone painting an 18+ year-old truck for free.

The 87 I used own was checked by a Ford Rep. just before the recall expired and passed the test. He basicaly went over the whole truck with tape trying to get the paint to come off. About 6 months after the recall expired I noticed the first spot of silver paint missing. I contacted the dealer and no coverage since it was past the time limit. Within a year most of the silver was missing on my black and silver F150. I ended up having the truck painted solid black since the silver was my only problem. My dad had a 90 F150 that had to be repainted 3 times by Ford but it was black and due to the primer showing through the paint. Sorry, but I think you will probably be like me and end up paying for your own.

Just got a price last month for a solid color (white)on the 93 F150 SC that belonged to my father. It has only a few minor spots of surface rust and needs no other body work. The clearcoat is gone and someone had repainted the drivers side before he got it and did a very bad job so it needs to be stripped on that side. It was a local PPG center and with a lifetime guarantee was $2000. He just did about $3500 in repairs to my wifes jeep after it was in an accident so
I am not sure if he gave me a better price since he had done the other. My 87 cost about $1300 about 8 years ago. Hope this helps.
