Correct Tires Size for '95

well, it has come to buying tires for my '95 2x4 reg cab. i had been looking at 265-75-16's.....this evenin, my dad tells me he found online the correct "stock" size is a 235-85-16......so, all the looking i did the other day wasn't accurate. i was looking at a Cooper off-brand for NTB i guess, the Mesa C/T. any experiance with this tire? i can get these at a decent price of around 450 (high school friend and hook-up). also, i can't get all these wierd metric sizes figured out, so i hope thats right.

265/75/16 is the stock size. Same for all strokers until they changed tire size in later models. I am trying to keep my 99 as stock as possible, and that is what the size is. 99-03. Then they went to the 18" tires.

i always htought the tires were a bit taller and skinnier tire. and that would make sense by the measurements my dad gave me earlier...

I believe that's true of Superduties, but he's got a '95. The stock size on the OBS trucks was 235/85/16. You can easily put 265's on without any trouble. As a matter of fact, that's what most people do if they're not going to lift the truck and go bigger.

235/85-16 are stock for my 97

the first number is tire width second is aspect ratio, its the percentage of how wide the tire is to how tall it is

235/85 =199.75mm tall and 235 wide

265/75 =198.75mm tall and 265 wide

i run the 265/75 cause i want a wider tire for off road.

235/85-16 is stock. I'm running 285/75-16. Looks good and not too big of a tire.

i don't really do much offroading, seeing how its a stock 2x4, but what i do i occasionaly on east texas deer lease, maybe hill country. i'm hopefully very soon going to start doing commuting to fire school. probably 15 miles each way every day. i'm currently running the 265's, and they look good, but was thinkin i might try the 235's and see how they look. how about those Mesa tires? i hadn't ever head of them before, they are supposedly a Cooper tire branded for NTB. and hey, 450 out the driveway ain't too shabby for a new set of shoes.
