I am looking at a heavy spec'd 1989 F700 that has hydraulic booster brakes with a hydraulic lock parking brake (lock button on dash)----truck has drum brakes on rear and disc on front.

Line ticket shows truck was ordered with h.d. hydraulic brakes---this truck was ordered out for use as a propane delivery truck----has factory 429 propane engine with 5 spd/2 spd set up. Air cleaner shows 429 Lima engine.

I am familiar with propane---have run lots of p-ups, tractors, and a 1973 F-750 (361) on propane before.

Pretty clean truck----runs like hell-----approx. 165,000 miles

Questions: what are the pros and con on this brake set up????

any problems/comments on the 429 Lima???----sounds real good

Any body had experience with this brake system???---comments will be appreciated. Thanks-----

I have a 1990 F-700 dump truck with a GVW of 26,500 lb. with the same brake set-up and haven't had a problem problem yet. Loaded to the gvw the truck stops very good and the parking brake holds very good also.
