Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes an oil dip stick and tube for the 272/292/312? I have a '56 F350 with a 272 and mine is pretty bad. The tube is on the passenger side about in the middle of the block. It has a tab welded on it to secure it to a boss on the block.

red, don't know anyone making the dipstick assembly. I had the same problem. Ended up pulling the stock assembly, bought a new dipstick at the parts store, and pieced the new and old together with some welds. Then cut the stick to length. It wasn't hard, but maybe someone else has an easier way.

 

Just saw a new stainless steel dip stick tube offered on e-bay. So someone is making them now. It requires the use of the stock stick however.
