rod and main bearings: 300 six
while i was hunting down the noise that i posted about earlier.
i heard another noise, its sounds like a slight knock, maybe the first or second cylinder rod bearing, the last noise i want to hear,
also the oil pressure is slack, probally a main bearing, i understand that i can replace the bearings without pulling the motor, im gonna do this.
my question is, with a slight knock there shouldnt be too much damage to the crank,i can just install the new bearings and torque them down, right?
also, what can i do to remove the upper half of the main bearings, and install the new ones, being the crank will be in the whole time?
also insalling a new oil pump.
GOD I HATE ABNORMAL ENGINE NOISES!!!!
but i must blame the slight knock on my "hotrod foot"

The best way I've seen to remove the upper bearing is with a cotter pin. You shape it into an angled T and then slip it into the oil hole on the crank. Then slowly roll the crank over and the upper bearing will slide out.
Just make sure you roll the crank in the right direction.
