The door opener malfunctioned and stopped about a foot short. I didn't have time to deal with it so I continued loading the tools & parts I needed for a job. Looking downward at a part right outside I forgot it was head height and slammed into it at full speed, took me off my feet.

Trying to break a bolt loose under a semi-tractor. Swinging a sledge hammer left handed (weak hand) and smashed my right index finger against the front axle. Been over 20 years and the nail still grows with a crack in it. Customer was appalled when he saw that I wrapped it in tape and kept working.

Helping dad cut and bend a piece of aluminum he brought home from work for a boat project. Insanely tough stuff so we used the acetylene torch to heat it up hoping it would bend more easily. The shavings caught fire. Turns out he grabbed a hunk of magnesium.

I spend a lot of time wrenching, there's a lot more.

Hopefully I can explain this without it being inappropriate...

last saturday we had a pool party and tons of people over. My shop is right beside the pool. So the wifey was in the “mood” and didn’t wanna go to the house, So she dragged me into the shop. We were “busy” in the back room and our 13yo son walks in on us, her on my lap with no more bikini on!
She’s lucky it was our son and not one of the guys tho. Lol she’s always risking the when and wear tho. It’s a wonder we aren’t busted regularly...

Mommy, why are you bouncing on top of daddy?
I'm squishing his belly back down.
That's not really gonna do much, when you leave for work the neighbor lady is just gonna blow it back up again.

I was over at my buddies house to wire his garage we just built. Went to strap on my toolbelt, the belt slipped out of my hand. Tried to grab the slipping belt, and punched myself right in the family doodads. Got that nauseated feeling as I was doubling over. Buttplug buddy stood there laughing.

I may have posted this before in one form or another--first dumb thing is build a garage with a 30'x20' footprint.

But what triggered my reply was the "let it fall" list. I knocked a garage door opener off the wall mount a few years ago during a replacement job. Good news: I caught it. Bad news: I caught it just before it hit the air compressor, with the tip of my index finger as the point of impact instead of the compressor. Of course, my finger impacted the compressor, preventing damage by absorbing the energy of the fall.

After 3 urgent care stops and one ER, all with standing room only crowds waiting 5 to 24 hours, I found a place with no one waiting. Got right in, got my 9 stitches, back home. I had torn about half the fingerprint pad into a U shaped flap. Stitches kept it tolerable, but that flap eventually came off. The end of my finger is a bit like a callus. Based on the rate of recovery, I think it will be almost normal in another 5 years.
