Intake Air Actuator...

For all those who have a manual or know..Where is this thing located? I took my f150 to the dealership for the service engine soon light, they pulled the code, but in the rerun everything tested normal. Told me I would have to drive around untill it came back on, which it did. It developed a bad clatter after the first time it came on. But after a change of spark plugs it subsided much, but is still there even with supreme fuel(At $2.15 a gallon who wants supreme). Any Ideas?

Not when you have a chip! Or a bunch of mods that are dependant on premium fuel! !!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I'm retarded...and I have no more chip...so I go with 87 all day now.

Back to the subject at hand ....

Not sure what you are asking about?
Intake Air Actuator???

Are you refering to the idle air controler?

The idle air controler sits on top of the intake plenum just behind (after) the throttle body.

What's the update on the symptoms? Do they continue?

Intake Air Actuator voltage and position is what is on the dealership form. The "pinging", or the marbles smacking together sound may or may not be directly related to it. I may need to run more injector and fuel system treatment in it. The light came on, I took it in, and on the first run on the computer it detected the IAA,but on a rerun it showed everything normal, so they told me I would have to drive it around untill it came back on..a Month later it did and then went off again. The problem is obvoiusly a intermitent problem occuring at certain variable( I believe the variable is A squared plus B spuared equal C squared)I am going to try cleaning the MAF sensor as maybe the reoiling of the filter 3 month ago my have wandered unto the sensor. So I am kinda stumped at the moment.

I need clarification.
Are we talking Idle Air Controler issues
or problems with the actuator(s) for the intake manifold runner controls?
Two waaayyyy different animals.

typically problems with the intake manifold runner controls will throw a code indicating the controler is stuck open or stuck closed.

I'm confused.

Thanks for the pictures, other than I know not what to even look for. Ths iis what the check-out reciept at dealership stated. "Tech EEC Test Code 1518 Monitor Intake air Actuater Voltage and Position."...Told me to drive it around till it came back on, which it finally did. Thats the extent of my knowledge.

It is located on the intake manifold and to remove them you have to tak the intake off.

Update:

I took my Ford to a different Dealership and they fount the problem. The actuater is stuck open, causing numerous problems up to the ECM electronically adjusting itself to the changes over time. The Entire intake has to be takien of, the valve replaced and the PCM reprogramed to factory specs..Aslo strongly advised was a Induction/Injection Cleaning(to restore power loss and MPG), and a coolant flush(brown water)...$1600 hundred dollars worth, the warrente will cover $1,200 of it. I am having to sell my barely used A/T's and rims to pay for it($700), but its not that bad of a loss...
