Fuel Filter Location on 76 Mark IV

I went and bought a fuel filter for my Lincoln. I can't seem to figure out where the old one is/should be. The guy at the parts store said it should be up by the carburetor, but I can't seem to find it. I have recently replaced the old Holley Carb that was on it with and Edelbrock 750/ EC, but I know I did not remove the old fuel filter in the process. The new filter is threaded on one end and has the nipple on the other end for the fuel line. Where would the threaded end screw into? The car had 15 year old gas that I've drained out and was very badly varnished, so I want to get the fuel system cleaned out. I figure I'll have to go through a couple filters in the preocess.
Pic of new Fuel Filter
Let me know if link doesn't work. Thanks
Adam

The filter you show, screws directly into the OEM carburetor. If it won't fit the new one, get you an inline clear filter, so you can see when it needs changing. It will be much easier and cheaper to change.

I kinda thought that might be the case. Kinda worried though that it has been without a fuel filter. It was a car that my Grandpa had bought about 15 years ago to pull a camper, and hasn't been driven with the exception of driving it up a traier about a year and a half ago. Gramps has since passed away, so I don't know if it was him that removed the filter, or if it didn't have one when he got it. He was very particular about vehicle maintainance so I'm surprised that it would be missing. Thanks for the quick reply.

Adam,
That is one of the easiest filters in the world to drive a nail through when it's stopped up on the road!! Had to a couple of times. Check the old carb and see what was on the inlet of it. If it was just a fitting , the filter is gone!!! Grand dad probably let it get stopped up on him one time too many, and did the easy fix!
Good luck!

Adam,
The replacement filter I was referring to is a Baldwin BF840-K1. This is a metal one that comes with short 5/16 hoses and clamps. The clear plastic one is a BF 7736. Fram is a G2 and Hastings is a GF2.
I have the Baldwin here in my shop & checked a couple of others on it.
