Pics of '78 CS sway bar?

I'm mounting a front swaybar from a '78 F250 CS 2wd onto my '73 F100 2wd, but am having trouble getting things lined up. I need a picture of the swaybar mounts (bolted directly under the coil springs). I'm not sure how they set, along with the end links. If someone has or could get me a picture, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't have pictures. I can get some tomorrow maybe.

the brackets that the links bolt to can only go on one way because of a pin they lock into. to get them on you need to take out the main I-beam bolt they fit over the radius arm and attach with that main 3/4" bolt.

the links have one end with a bushing and one end that is threaded and looks like a shock (the only place i've found that has the whole link is NPD) the link bolts to the bracket and angle out toward the front of the truck. there are 2 bushings and 2 washers that mount the swaybar to the links. the frame should have holes for the 2 swaybar mounts.

don't tighten everything up untill the truck is sitting on its own wheels

that swaybar pic is either an earlier design or an aftermarket unit.

Oldhalftons, I'd really appreciate the pics, if you can swing it. My '73 F100 2wd doesn't have a place for the pin to lock into, so I'm not sure the mounts are sitting correctly. So a pic of the mounts on the I beam would be great. Thanks for the help.

yeah that strange looking U-bolt set up is one I "found" at a salvege yard. it came from a '67-72 (h3\/y 3/4 ton, and I found a couple O' u-bolts and some steel plate and BADA BING it works great, and for $7 you CAN'T beat it.

I "think" my sway bar is a heavy bar that connects the two arms that run parallel with the frame. I wish I had a picture to show you what I'm talking about. It doesn't look like any conventional swaybar I've seen. At least I was thinking that was a sway bar????

haha, you know what, THAT"S WHAT I HAVE!!! I never knew it, but the bar I got from that chevy had exactly the same chassis mounts. so I got the old ford ones and drilled out the holes on the chassis, and enlarged the holes in the rubber mount so the bar would fit, then I just built all of the other stuff!! it looks identical only older.

Ranger240 - yup, looks just like mine. I like the way yours are mounted to the frame better than mine, though..... althought I've never had one problem with the Hellwig chassis mount setup.....

I like the way the front and rear sways allow me to keep up and PASS the porches.... :-))

"Only if you look closely and know WHAT to look for can you see the sway bar, after installing"

The factory camper special bar is right out there. You can't miss it

I like the fact that that hellwig bar can be installed without removing the coil springs.
