Wicked Wheel install, What a difference!!!!

I just installed the Wicked Wheel this past weekend and what a difference it made. There is no performance gain to do this, but the surge is totally gone. Even on the high setting on my flip chip. It kicked my A-- doing it myself. It took 45 minutes to take it apart and get the turbo off. 30 minutes taking the turbo apart and replacing the wheel and putting it back together. 6 hours getting the Darn up pipe and down pipe lined back up and all put back together and ready to run. I also did a lot of cleaning in the process. Remember, I did this by myself. While I was at it, I did the CCV mod also. I had no idea so much stuff would come out. The little smoke that comes out stinks pretty bad. I love the new sound of the turbo.

Yeah you get used to the smell, also watch under your turbo for leaks. I pulled my turbo 3 times just to properly get the o-rings to stop leaking. No problems since. I too love the WW. I also deleted the EBPV, and the CCV at the same time.

My manual said to remove the up pipe at the tranny brace, but I went ahead and blasted my knuckles and pulled the clamp at the top. I left my downpipe loose, and didnt torque the turbo till everything lined up and was fitting. Really, really helped.

Watch the CCV orings, mine looked OK, and it still leaked. When I bought the ones at the dealer, they were much smalller, but stopped it right now...Kinda hated buying 11.00 worth of orings from Ford, but I wasnt sure about heat, let alone some weird size.

Before I put the turbo back on I got new pedestal o-rings and used Vaseline on them to hold them in place. I went to the local Tractor Supply and got new o-rings for the CCV also. I got ones a little thicker than the originals. The old ones on the CCV were way loose and crimped. Been driving it for 3 days now and no leaks so far. I still have my fingers crossed though.

Glad to hear your surge is gone, wish I was so lucky. Mine comes back when I tow. I am now looking for an ATS housing. I never took my turbo out, just took the intake side off and I did have experienced help. The new sound is great!!

Okay, a couple of questions - who makes the Wicked Wheel?

Banks has their own compressor wheel - how different is it from the Wicked Wheel, or are they about the same - but different price?
