Pro Comp Mud Terrains

Anyone out there have any opinions on Pro Comps Mud Terrain tire. I am in the process of putting a 3in body lift on my '02 F-150 FX4 and either 33s or 35s. Pro Comp this month has buy 3 get 4th free. This is a daily driver truck average 18-20K a year. How many miles are you guys getting out of these mud terrain tires. I noticed in another thread that someone got 45K out of his mud terrains, not sure what brand. Thanks...

I have never run a set of Pro Comp tires but know peope that have. From what i have heard 45k on these tires is stretching it. I know of one person who had procomp all terains and hated them. For the price they might seem like a better deal in the moment but if it were me, i would invest in a good set of Bfg mud terain or even better, Goodyear. Another thing you should think about would be if you really need a set of mud terain. If you drive 20k a year, then after about 2 or 3 years you end up spending another few hundred dollars on a new set.I own a set of Bfg all terain and i would not think twice about owning another set. I duck hunt alot and i have gone though some serious mud with no problems, and for a daily driver it is much more practical. Think about it.
Hope this helps.

Thanks guys! I have some buds with 35 BFGs All Terrains on his super duty and loves them. I realize I will obviously get much better mileage out of all terrain tires. I dont know if you guys are familiar with the Tire chain BIG O TIRES, but they have a tire called a Big Foot XT, which is similar in tread to a mud terrain, but made of the same hardness and compound as an all terrain. Im considering these, can get a set for under $800 with everything, lifetime balancing, road hazzard, etc. I can expect about 50K out of them and no of someone that has gotten 65K. I believe their tires might be made by Cooper, not 100% sure on that.

Check out www.tirerack.com . It's got everything you need for researching tires. I think the number one consumer rated M/T tire at that site was firestone destination m/t's check the site out its great for researching. As far as I know the biggest size they make those tires in are 33's

I've got a set of 265/75-16 Pro Comp Mud Terrains on my '02. I've put about 3,000 mixed city/highway miles on them and have noticed very little wear so far. I decided to go with the Pro Comp's over the BFG MT's because the center tread blocks on the Pro Comp's are siped, theoretically providing better wet pavement traction than the smooth blocks on the BFG's. The highway howl ain't too bad either; I expected them to be a lot louder than they are. I can't vouch for the mud traction, but they've done just fine on very rocky unimproved dirt roads.

I work at a goodyear dealer, and our similiar tire would be the mtr. Now i have a set on my truck and they are awesome, our one commercial salesman has a set on his truck and gets over 100,000 k with them, they arent cheap but with that kind of mileage ya sure cant complain!

Kind of off topic but it works in the category: Should i keep the tires I have now (265/75r16 BFG A/T's) or go to 285/75r16 Firestone destination M/T's, any opinions on these tires?

Hey Preppypyro we have a set of goodyear Wrangler RT/S on our expy, and we were only able to squeeze 30,000 miles out of them. Can you explain to me how your salesman can get 100,000 mi out of a set of goodyears. BTW i also have the same tires on a 150.

Ive said this before but I had a set of 31" Cooper STT's on my 95 and could not say enough GREAT things about them. I rarely used my 4wd once they were on in situations that I would have had to use 4wd in before. They were inexpensive and lasted a good long time. I have Goodyear's on my 97 and hate them, as soon as they wear down alittle more so I can justify the purchase I will be buying more Cooper STT. One of the 4x4 mags also just did a comparison and found them to be a good tire also.
Good Luck

Easy as pie man, rt/s's are cheap in price, and not made to last as long, an mt/r is built for offroad, and with harder rubber stuff in it, and an rt/s is built for light passenger driving, not offroading, and it is built soft, so you get a better more comfortable ride, compared to a rough ride from an mt/r or any other off road tire! Just keep in mind the old saying, you get what you pay for!

i have them on my truck right now and they are awesome! A little noisy, but what can you expect when you want an offroad tire! And that is not to say other companies dont have just as good of tires, I only know of mine just because I work for a goodyear dealer!
