1966 twin I beam side mirrors

Hi All,

New to the board. I am looking for side mirrors for my 1966 twin I beam. Any ideas where I can find some and what prices I am looking at. Thanks

THere's at least 3 mirrors for that truck. Do you have any now? A description would help of the style you want. There is also another thread on mirrors in the archives. It wasn't that long ago it ran. It may still be a few pages back if you search.THere's some on E bay right now. Look under "66 ford f-100".

The correct mirrors with a FOMOCO stamp are reproduced by Dennis Carpeter

There are inferior units out there without the stamp. Its the old saying you get what you pay for.

Try to find the bullet mirriors in any ford part book prior to 61....

the fat fendered guys swear it started with them but i have yet to find any other than repops with the B3 start date.

I assumed she is looking for the post mirrors.

It's tough to look up mirrors. THe descriptions have always sucked! That's why there's so many NOS ones out there. You'd order one thinking it's right, but it wasn't. So you ordered another hoping it was the one. The early parts books (48-56 years) have almost no real description. The blind leading the blind! The only one I found was C1TZ 17696-E, 5 inch round with fixed arm, chrome. It say "use with door plug". They list it for 61 and on. They didn't start with illustrations in the books until 1973. That was a great help. I just found some on the locator. One place shows 13 in stock. I wonder if they're NOS or repo. If anyone's interested, I can post where these are.

I just wonder with that qty on hand. I know Dennis Carpenter lists alot of stuff on the locator, but alot of it's actually repops.

Wesley Obs liberty, Ky 1-606-787-5293 qty 13
Miller obs Vestal,NY 1-800-546-7278 qty 1
Auburn Sales Auburn, Ind. 1-260-925-3100 qty 1 (Ford dealer)
Lincoln Old parts Clearwater, F la 1-888-500-9717 qty1
Melvin's classics Conyers, Ga 1-770-761-6800 qty 1

If you buy them, let us know if this the correct style. I'm dyin' to know!

Dennis Carpenter lists PN B6C-17696-S for $65. They claim it is original Ford script. It is the kind that fits down in the slot in the door. Really nice looking. Especially in pairs. I had saved the picture but I guess you cant post pics on this site. Oh well!!

Anyway I have one of the "inferior" pieces that someone mentioned are such bad quality. You can get them for around $39 and I think mine very good quality and beautiful. I only wish all aftermarket parts could be that good. There may be some junk out there too. I got mine off Ebay but it was new in a box from a repro company. I wish I had kept the name of the company. I think you can get about the same thing from LMC or Macs. These mirrors look great but the passenger side is useless. You CANT see out of it.

They also sell what are known as peep mirrors that mount to the top of the door frame. At about $20 a pop not a bad deal since they retain a vintage look.

Just dont insult your truck and the genaral public and buy some racey-bling-bling junk from walmart or AutoZone.

Best choice from a visual standpoint. Looking at but NOT seeing through. You will see/not what I mean. Again I say the reputable repros are decent quality. You don't have to have Ford script unless your fixing a trailer queen. Know what I mean?

I cut a slight convexed mirror, like the new vehicles have on their passenger side mirrors, to fit mine. Works great!

I just purchased a set off of ebay. they went for 39 dollars. Got them from Classic auto parts out of Oklahoma. I haven,t installed them yet but seem to be good quality.
I guess I,ll see how they hold up.
