You have to remove the entire fuel tank when that light comes on.

Ok seriously just look in your owners book and it shows how to drain the water from the seperator under the driver on the frame rail. 6mm allen i believe.
Do it once a month not just when the light comes on.

For other nifty procedures look at the "tech folder" at the top of the 6.0 thread page including EGR disconnecting, crankcase breather modification, seatbelt chime removal etc.
Lots of good info.

Look in your owners manual, it'll tell you. Basically though, you'll need a (5mm I think) alan wrench, a glass jar, some rags, and a little patience.
The drain plug is located on the filter housing on the frame rail on the drivers side just behind the front tire. It's a tight fit due to the exhaust. Drain into the glass jar so you can see how much water's there and when it's all gone. If there's a lot, you might have to drain it, reinstall the plug, start it & let it idle a few minutes, then repeat.
I got some bad fuel one time & had to do it about a dozen times before it cleared up. I changed the filter out once I got all the water out too.
By the way, the rags are to soak up the fuel that's going to run down your arm into your armpit. Have Fun!

If the fuel tank is near full then alot of clean diesel will keep coming out the drain after the water.
Ideally drain the water when you don't have a full tank IMO.

Again, the tech folder can really help you out here.
Good luck

if your truck is a 4x4 the HCFM is located on the drivers side frame rail under the front door right behind the front drive shaft. it is a 6mm and be careful taking the plug out, some are brass and are real easy to strip out. i stripped out mine, but there was a recall on the HCFM reading wrong telling you there is water in the fuel when there isnt. they also replaced the plug with a better one.
