04 Screw Mpg
Has anybody else had as bad of mpg as I have? I am only getting 10 - 11!!
The worn out Chevy with the 5.3 I traded got over 16 and the window sticker of my 04 SCREW with the 5.4 indicated over 14. My 03 Excursion gets better mpg with the older 2 valve 5.4 and the dealer refuses to admit there is a problem.
I have even tried driving like my gramma and its 10 - 11. This sucks.

What kind of APBT?
Hey, sorry to hear about the gas mileage. My 04 2004 xlt 4x4 got 14 driving to work, mostly highway some urban. 17.5 on long higway trips. Your mileage doesn't sound too far off for only city. Enough about that, and Ford bought it back.
What kind of APBT do you have? I had two, my boy passed away last year and I still have the girl. I foster and rescue them. I'm just interested. I'm partial to Red noses.

Get about 12.5 -13 mpg on my screw 4X4 driving back and forth to work (20 miles, almost all highway), averaging about 80 mph. Drove from San Diego to Chicago and back over christmas and averaged 14.7 (according to the information center) averaging about 85 mph. I suppose if I could keep my foot out of it, I'd do better.

I have an 04 SCREW, 5.4, 3.73 and I averaged 20 mpg (19 in the wind and 21 with the wind) on an 8 hr round trip driving 75 mph. Around town I average 13 mpg which is about 1-2 mpg less than my 2001 Chevy 5.3 with a higher speed rear-end. Interestingly, the Chevy got about the same on the highway. By the way, my fiberglass bed cover improved my highway mileage by about 1 mpg.

2004 screw 4x4 5.4 373 gears, i was getting 15-16 in town and 20-21 on hywy, and then they changed my pinion gears and clutch packs, and my milage has steadily dropped to 10-12 in town and 16-17 hywy. they tell me that it is the cold weather. i could beleive 1-2 mpg drop for the cold weather but not 5-6mpg. i think there is something wrong in the rear end that they did. it also feels like it is slipping now, the rear end or the transmission. i'll just keep taking it in til they find something. $40,000 is alot of money to be having these problems, and hopfully ford will make it right. if not they will lose alot of sales. i know its not the workers its the engineers and upper managment that just pushes them out to make the money and try to forget about them. so if you are having problems with your truck keep taking it back til they make it right, its your money.
