I'm on my third vacuum actuator to engage the front axle for 4X4 in 85k miles. Have seen a product called 4x4 Posi-Lok which is a mechanical cable actuating system. Looks like a fail safe system. If I need another actuator I'll seriously consider the cable system. Any feedback from those who installed the system as a replacement would be appreciated.
