Hey Fellow Ranger Owners,

I have post this message on the "RANGER" Link too,in case someone wanted to see other replies,or missed this one.)

I have a 1986 4 cyl. 2.3 Ranger,with 129,000 miles on it.WOW!
Can anyone tell me if this is a Interference,or non-interference engine? Not that it matters,except if the belt SNAPS.
I am NOT mechanically inclined to attempt this myself,but what could this involve in way of replacing other parts? I do have a mechanic friend who said he would help me,but am I opening up a can of worms? I know this should have been replaced LONG LONG TIME ago.This truck IS my only transportation,and I would like to drive it as long as I can. Is this a fairly non-complex job? Should I replace the water pump too? My Temp gauge has been flirting up high lately,and I do have coolant in it,maybe my thermastat is stuck.
Anything you can tell me about this type of replacment,and what other things that have gone wrong,and in need of replacement, would help tremendously. Thanks, Bozo4ford
