Question Newbie looking for a good 292 block...for my '59 F250

Hello,
I am looking for a 292 block to rebuild to replace the 312 bokc I had in my truck. I took the truck to a shop here in town to be rebuilt by the only guy in tiwn that would talk to me about it. He took $1600 and split. I never got my block back. I have most of my parts sitting in the bed of the truck which sits like a nice pretty Ford statue in my driveway.

I really want this truck back on the road. So if anyone has any leads on a good block please let me know. If I manage to get a block you all will be seeing more of me, as I am planning on rebuilding this myself now.

Thanks,
Doc

Block

What can you say about that kind of story, except to wish the thief the worst.
There is a complete Y longblock with tranny listed on another site for sale. It is $300. Probably could be negotiated down. Location is Southern Calif. If you are interested send me a private message and I'll get you the info.

I've got one date coded for a 59 and it runs, doesn't smoke, runs strong. Block code C9AE7015. and I'd let it go for $200. It would be ready to drop in. Includes bellhousing and if yo wanted the tranny too (3 speed) add $25 . I'm in SC also but the problem is it South carolina not southern cal. Shipping would be a bear probably. I removed this from my 55 because I wanted a more original engine.

If you want it, let me know.

Bubba

thanks for the offer Bubba, If you still have it when I move to Virginia I will buy it from you. After checking out some of the suggestions from the members here I've found one somewhere in nothern Ca, and may......may check it out. Regardless of what I figure out I plan on bring this truck with me when I move, which hopefully will be within the year. I also drive a (GASP) 1970 chevy C10 for my work truck (hey I had to find something to drive after the F250 went down) so the east coast will be getting two classic RUST FREE rides from Ca...lol.

thank you all for the suggestions,
Doc

I'm also looking for a long block, and am in s. California. Where is this $300 engine advertised?! -- please send me the info.

DocNo, I also have a bare 292 block. It is a '61 block and is standard bore. Let me know if this block could help you out. I will let it go cheap. I'm in Ventura county, just south of Santa Barbara, North of LA.

Sounds like you got plenty to choose from, but just in case, add me to your list of possibilities. Several in a junkyard near me, some running some not. Carmi, Illinois
