Info on my truck

My 74' F205 has the following VIN: F26YUU02441. The GVWR:7100, Front 3550 Rear 4290 I know it came with a 360, but can anyone tell me anything else about it? For example: axles, gear ratios. I looked for the numbers on the differentials and couldn't find them on either. The rear axle is pretty clean, but has no numbers on the side. Any other locations I am missing?

John

PS If there was a metal tag it isn't there anymore.

Vin#'s have very little info on them.

Get all the OTHER info off the door rating plate & post it.

The F26 means it a 73 F250 4x4. The Y means it has a 360 2brrl. The first U means it was assembled in Louisville The second U and numbers are the sequence number.

OK

I looked at the sticker on the door and all it says is the weights of the entire truck and on each axle. The places on the bottom of the sticker where it says axle trim etc is all blank there is nothing written in there. I had cleaned it to make sure and there is nothing indicated there. So what's going on?

if the door plate is still there (and original) the info would be on it. It is right below the latch. The rear end does have a "Dana" part number on it. It is located on the passenger side of the tube near the spring mount. To find mine I had to use a wire brush to clean off the dirt and stuff. It is on the rear facing side. I went to a spicer/dana website found a phone number and called. They cross referenced the number, I dont remember where, been a couple of years. Turned out that the axle I picked up was a Dana 61. Hope this helps.

John, It isn't a sticker.
It's a black/silver metal plate.

DANA Stamps their axle housings between the cover and where the axle tube is welded to the ***. housing usually on the right. so try genes wire brush method and post it.

Dennis,
I'm having a bit of difficulty too. No data plate. However front diff tag "354 D8TA YD" ; rear diff tag "354 D7TA AEB" the vin I decoded already but just to give you the info "X26SKAGXXXX". The door sticker states 4350lb front and 5300lb rear. The rear diff has "60" in webbing which doesn't jive with "D7" on tag if that is the correct code. Any idea what ratio/type axles?

I found these numbers going from left to right looking forwards:

3 15 40 then 60 3882 9

8's could be 3's
thinking dana 60 with 3.83 gears?

I was thinking the first three numbers are gear ratio as my front and rear are "354" and should be matched in a 4x4 (which is the dana 60 5300lb. Not sure if "315" was offered so my logic might be out to lunch.

John,

Your truck should have a VIN sticker on the door frame and a Rating Plate on the door. If the plate is gone, anything goes as to how your truck was originally configured.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3.54:1 both made for the model years 77 & 78.
YD & AEB are bearing info numbers.
Other number/letters are for Casting plant and dates.
Thanks Dennis. I figured 3.54:1 for both. The 5300lb rear and "60" in the webbing all add up to dana 60. I'm assuming the front is dana 60 as well but just can't be sure it's not 44. The number stamped in the webbing is hidden by the spring shackle and certainly not worth the effort required to read it. I was hoping for a short cut. Thanks for a piece of the puzzle though
Dwayne
