Block Heater ?

I got a 96 f 150 302 auto. It got cool out last night and my truck barely started. I was thinking of getting a block heater for it and the only freeze plug I can see is the passenger side above the starter( I believe it to be 1 1/2 in size this sound right) . Is this the correct one for putting in the block heater and if so how hard is it to get the freeze plug out..

Other options I have seen are, heated Dipstic, heater hose circulating tank, One that splices in lower Radiator hose, a magnetic one for the oil pan, anyone know if any of these are better than a block heater and some are definately easier to install. Any help appreciated or any other options please let me know..

Thanks Alot

Jeg's has a block heater for the freeze plug that's $25....goes in that passanger side rear freeze plug.

To get the plug out, use a screw driver and hammer, tap one side so the plug kinda spins around, then use a pair of pliers to pull it out. Gotta flush out the radiator fluid first though.

I used to sell the Kats Brand heater that installed in the heater lines, They work really well and are fairly easy to install. I dont care for dipstick heaters as I fear they "cook" the oil in the contact area. Freeze plug heaters are by far the best but a little harder to retro-fit.
