Bilsteins are now available for 04-05 F150's

Just saw it in this weeks Autoweek -- an ad saying they are now available --

I have had both the Bilstein and Edelbrocks on a 2001 Supercrew -- (yes I have had two of them) -- Bilstein firmer - much much better tower --- Edelbrock 1/2 way from Bilstein to original equipment ride - handled big bumps and potholes better --- both provided much better motion control than stock --

FYI one of the F150's at 24k had two of the shocks that were gone

I very recently ordered and installed the Blistens on my 04 FX4, man what a difference from stock. Alot smoother and bump recovery is excellent. Im sold on these now. The OEM shocks arent ranchos anyway, just a real cheapo unit, mine are in the landfill now with only 5k miles on them.

Bilstein is making a full on coilover for these trucks, (held one in my hand at SEMA this year) the bad part as I was told by the head marking person is that they are probably 6-8 months from being ready for production and sale.

This brings up a related question, and possibly a dumb one, havent really thought about it yet...is the ride quality of a shock affected by a leveling kit? I am getting a kit for Xmas and like the thought of the bilsteins down the road, but should I consider other shocks with the leveling kit? I think I am getting the protechezlift 2.5" kit.

Not realy. It's a stock length shock with adjustable coil so you might get 2 inches more lift if you cranked the coil down more.

Yo, this is from ford manual:

Front Suspension — 4x4
DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY
1. Remove the shock absorber and spring
assembly from vehicle.
2. Using a suitable spring compressor, compress Shock Absorber and Spring

the spring until the tension is released from the Assembly

shock absorber.
3. NOTE: While holding the flats of the washer, remove the nut.
Remove the shock absorber-to-upper mount nut
and the upper shock mount.
4. Remove the insulator.
5. Remove the dust tube.
6. Remove the coil spring from the shock absorber.
Disassembly and Assembly

To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
• To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
