Welcome Nate, I'm fairly new here too. Lotta good discussions and great info. As far as I'm concerned, as long as we're not trying to take on V10 Vipers and Saleen Mustangs, our V6's will hold their own with any pickup out there. Mine has enormous top end and respectable from a stop. There's this guy I know who brags if he has more peanuts in his bag. He buys a 2003 Hemi Ram and pulls in the service station while I'm filling up. First thing he said to me was, "well, I've got something here that'll kick that Ford." I laughed and said yeah and it'll take you 7 years to pay it off, mines paid for and it'll still hammer you on top end. Let's go! He had to get home..........I think!

What on earth makes you say that?
A 5.7L Hemi at best runs a 16.1 - 16.2ish. I'll admit that's a tiny bit faster than ours stock, but it's sad that that's all that truck can do considering it's a Hemi. With all the promo's it's gotten it should be running low 15's at the least.

a stock 04.2 with a rgsb config, XL trim, has pulled DOCUMENTED 16.4's. Jimmy Dean is the owner of that timeslip. You dont hit 17.3-5 unless your an auto SCAB config, like tom longo. ive seen talley hit, well not seen in person, but cideo, of a 13.88 run. Ive seen 14.2 (i think) without nos or any other kind of "power adder", just boltons.
Remember, r/t means nothing toward your 1/4 mile time.
Now, do you understand why we always try to dispell the "logical thinking" hat a v8 should and/or is faster than a v6?

Landon...I have NO idea where you got your numbers, BUT I thought Id post some for you. Enjoy:
"The SRT-10 is the most powerful production pickup available on the market today. It produces 90 percent of its torque between 1500-5600 rpm and can roar to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The quarter mile is gobbled up in 13.3 seconds with a trap speed of 106.9 mph. We found a 3500-rpm launch is required to get the 22-inch rear wheels to spin...."
"Despite a 120-horsepower deficit to the SRT-10, the Lighting still managed to whip out respectable test numbers. The blown V-8 is good for a 5.1-second 0-to-60 run and a quarter-mile shot of 13.6 seconds at 102.0 mph."

And in a more current motor trend... "0-60 in 5.1 and the 1/4 mile in 13.6 @ 99.9 mph" Thats an 05 mustang...good company to be in, if you ask me.

I know those times were slow. I knew the Lightning was at least capable of a 14.0 or less. Those are fast trucks. Working for Ford, I got to drive a few LIghtnings and Harley Davidsons. The Lightning is so quick it doesn't even feel natural for a truck to accelerate like that. It's awesome. I wonder why the trap speed is so slow for the new mustang GT? That must have been one helluva launch!
